‘Best Worst Movie’: Hello, Friend. Do You Have A Moment to Let ‘Troll 2′ into your Heart?

Troll 2 is a holocaust of ineptitude but it is a total joy to watch. This is one of those rare treats that you would file under a GREAT bad movie. In the case of Troll 2 it seems to be that know nobody knew they were in a bad movie until it was too late. So the whole thing is shot with a tremendous amount of sincerity. There is a hardcore cult following of fan-boys that are turning this bitch into the next Rocky Horror. To track the genesis of how a movie goes from bargain VHS big to sold out shows in NYC, LA, SF the movie’s child star made a documentary out of the phenomenon: “Best Worst Movie”.

This was the best flick I saw at SxSw (besides a 3 minute movie called BOOB which was all about a killer implant.) The doc explored all the awesomely camp aspects of “Troll 2″ but it also delved into the stories of the cast. Most had tried to block out that it had ever occurred others seem frozen in time. The tone of the documentary was never mean-spirited. It was never saccharine. But was perfectly quizzical about the appeal of cult films and mind-swaying potentials movies have in general. I hope it comes out it in wide release and I hope yall will come to my “Troll 2″ screening.

BONUS: True story, at the premiere some publicist twazz asked me “are you one of the goblins” without an ounce of irony.
