The Commentocracy: People This Is Why You Love ‘Teh Internet’

There’s been a lot of discussion on this word wide web of ours about the value of commenters. Choire of former Gawker fame and current Radar capitivity is not down with anonymous commenters. Shelia of current Gawker fame thinks that newspapers websites shouldn’t have open commenting at all and the MOST IMPORTANT TUMBLRER OF OUR GENERATION went on a very long rant that I’m far too attractive and popular to care about. I’ve been torn on the issue until I read this brilliant screed of wit left for us in sparse comment section:

On McCain’s editorial being rejected by the NYT:

“I read some of his “jokes” and really that sort of shit would be funny if you were in the goddamn Navy and McCain was your commander, but we’re not and he isn’t. He belongs to that “greatest generation” mentality. The one where you could talk about how great it is to be a cunt hound, but still smack your kids in the mouth for saying “pregnant” in public.”

A site truly does deserve the commenters it attracts.
